During 2007, Brown, Brown & Young principal Augustus F. (Gus) Brown received three significant honors, each recognizing him as among the pre-eminent trial and personal injury attorneys in the nation.
These honors were being selected as a member of Baltimore's Legal Elite; being recognized as one of Maryland's Super Lawyers; and being placed on Lawdragon's list of the 3000 leading plaintiffs' lawyers in the United States.
Baltimore's Legal Elite is a function of Baltimore SmartCEO magazine, which selected 25 of Maryland's attorneys, including Gus Brown, as its "Legal Elite." Attorneys were nominated by CEOs, business owners and industry and legal experts and then evaluated by area of expertise, leadership, professional accomplishments, innovation, and relationship development.
Super Lawyers is a listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 60 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Polling, research and selection are performed by Law & Politics, a publication of Key Professional Media, Inc. Law & Politics has been publishing legal magazines since 1990 and Super Lawyers since 1991.
The list, which includes Gus Brown, is published by SuperLawyers.com as a special supplement in leading newspapers and city and regional magazines across the country, including Baltimore Magazine in Maryland. Super Lawyers magazine, featuring articles about attorneys named to the Super Lawyers list, is distributed to all attorneys in the state or region, the lead corporate counsel of Russell 3000 companies, and to all ABA-approved law school libraries.
The LAWDRAGON 3000 salutes plaintiff lawyers -- as the Lawdragon web site states, "they save our lives and are the first person we call when we're in trouble."
Each year, Lawdragon asks the nation's best lawyers and their clients whom they trust with their own legal matters, leading to the assembly of the 3000 practitioners nationwide who qualified. These attorneys had to chiefly represent individuals, whether in solo or class claims of essentially any nature, toxic tort to aviation, securities class action to employment.
Once nominated, the final selection of each attorney, including Gus Brown, was based on Lawdragon's proprietary rating system that combines journalistic reporting, interviews with clients and colleagues, and a review of practice accomplishments. According to Lawdragon, this recognition "is among the most elite given for American lawyers as we award this designation to less than one-half of one percent of America's 1.1 million lawyers."
Congratulations, Gus, on your achievements!
