Douglas R. Cain
Douglas R. Cain became Of Counsel to the firm beginning October 1, 2005, when his independent practice in Cecil County was merged into Brown, Brown & Young.
After a year at the United States Naval Academy, Mr. Cain matriculated at the University of Delaware, from which he received a Bachelor's Degree; he later attained his MBA, also from the University of Delaware. He is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, and founded his practice in Elkton in 1981.
A long time member of the Character Committee for the Maryland Bar Association, for which he interviews prospective admittees to the Bar of Cecil County, Mr. Cain is also a past president of the Cecil County Bar Association. He served as Federal Tort Claims Officer at Aberdeen Proving Ground, in which role he was responsible for investigating all claims against the federal government arising out of incidents at APG.
Prior to merging his practice into the firm of Brown, Brown & Young, Mr. Cain focussed his legal work primarily on tort law, especially in the area of plaintiffs' injury practice. Working both alone and in conjunction with co-counsel, he has been involved in several multi-million dollar cases.
Mr. Cain has been a guest speaker on Tort Recovery for the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association, and actively supports and provides pro bono legal services to Cecil County volunteer and community organizations such as volunteer fire companies.
A member of Cecil County Bar Association and a former member of the Town Board of North East, Maryland, Mr. Cain is an avid amateur sailor and bay fisherman.
Mr. Cain is licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland.
