Dave Carey Re-elected as Commissioner;
Becomes Mayor of Bel Air
Dave Carey was re-elected to his third consecutive 4-year term as a Commissioner of the Town of Bel Air in a hotly contested race last November.
In an unusual turn of events, the non-partisan election saw two candidates declare specifically to defeat Dave and fellow Commissioner Robert Preston. The voting was very close, with the final results not official until the absentee and provisional ballots were counted a week after the initial balloting on November 3, 2009, but in the end Dave and Rob Preston received the most votes, and were duly re-elected.
In the first meeting after the election, Dave was elected Chairman of the Board of Commissioners by his fellow Commissioners; the position is for one year and carries with it the title of "Mayor of Bel Air."
